“Being busy for the sake of being busy.”
I’ve often heard people say things like : “I haven’t stopped today; it’s been all go” or. “I haven’t sat down all day” (not that sitting for too long is desirable either, but you get the point).
The implication being, “Look how much I’ve done!” But WHAT has been achieved?
Anything worthwhile or an endless list of tasks which keep the treadmill or hamster wheel turning. We don’t want to be rushing around all day doing stuff just for the sake of it. Are we DOING so that we feel important or useful? Possibly, but I believe most of us aren’t even thinking about WHAT we’re doing. It’s just life, right??? But are we actually just perpetuating a system designed to keep us on the hamster wheel like someone’s massive pet? If the agenda is to keep everyone “doing” without much, if any, regard for what we’re doing and more importantly what it is we’re really here on this planet to ACTUALLY do, then I think it’s been largely successful. But WHO has set this agenda, and does it have your best interests at heart? (or those of your wider community?)
So, today’s question is:
Whose agenda are you working towards? AND
Who is it actually serving at the end of the day?
On top of everything else, our phones have become an endless source of distraction. With requests for feedback. Social media to view and comment on. Growing administrative tasks in most people’s jobs.
We all KNOW the media is vying for our attention. “Here’s another recommendation…watch this next…” So, before the day begins and we end up unconsciously carrying out someone else’s orders for the day, let’s pause and set our own heart’s intentions for the day.
